So, I've been having a discussion on Twitter this morning about technical recruitment and all...

Here's my question, what exactly is your engineer hire process like? Many companies in Silicon valley typically follow the Google / Facebook pattern.
Here's my previous experience
In the past, I've had to just talk with developers, first talk is to see how much they know about programming generally, how much their knowledge has evolved over time and then how relevant they are to our current technology stack. The next step will be to give a coding test to examine how they can decompose a problem into little pieces and how disciplined they are when coding. After that, I can toss them over to HR and management for final steps.
So what's your process like ? You can also share how you were hired as a developer.
Thanks
