Hello Radarians.
How much is too much is self-education?

This is the question that popped up in my mind not long ago. Why?

This image really provoked a lot of thoughts on my mind. It was created by Jobberman to show what percentage of Nigerians earn what salary range.

I considered how hard many Nigerians work, how long many folks stay on a job versus how much they are compensated for it over a long period of time.

Someone even said those 4.1% (earning over N500k) are underpaid because majority of them studied abroad or must have worked as head of different teams at different companies before they reach this 'peak'.

Are all Nigerian workers underpaid?
Is anyone overpaid in Nigeria at all?

How can someone make up for working for so long at a job with little or no raise?
Or is it just normal?

For me I think developing oneself in order to have different sources of income
or to open doors of opportunity to work on different projects as side hustle is the way out.

From my side of the divide, acquiring digital marketing skills, learning to code, other soft skills
that will allow someone to upgrade will be great.

While some job roles seem to be going out of fashion, new roles such Social Media Manager, Web Analytics Expert, Email Marketing Specialist, Community Manager are emerging and anyone could get trained plus certified to fill up these marketing roles.

Please, what do you think is the way forward?
Your advice may help somebody who is stuck on a job or graduate
who does not know how to spice up his CV for good job offers.

Kindly share your thoughts on this matter. Atankio!

PS: I wrote a piece on acquiring Digital Marketing skills which partly addresses this issue.
