I love to code and often find that the better part of the productive stuff I do happens while I'm offline. Coding online is fun as google, stackoverflow and whachumacallit are just a url away. But so is LindaIkeji, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Radar and lots of websites that help waste useful time. Well some interesting people have found a way to help you measure and quantify your coding! They built Wakatime!
Wakatime is a simple but very powerful tool that lets you measure the time you spend working in your favourite IDE. It's extremely easy to install. All you need to do is sign up, grab a key and install a plugin in your fav IDE. I have been using it heavily since the first day I came across it and I have done my best to introduce it to as many people as I can.
Being able to measure time spent on each project, language, file, commit and much more is just insane. These guys are on to something and they have built a tool that every developer is bound to fall in love with it! It works well with other services and here is a blog post I made about the way I use it - https://medium.com/@waaazap/bitbucket-trello-slack-and-wakatime-the-programmer-s-guide-to-having-a-deployment-orgy-f2bb76992910?source=latest---------1
I look forward to seeing how you guys make use of this and if you already do, share some insights!
