Below are 2 key excerpts from Sibanda founder of Tuse App first African incubee at Founder space, on a short piece about Lessons to learn from Silicon valley.
“An ecosystem is not so much dependent on how many different players are in the environment at one time; it’s how much they interconnect.”
“It’s basically when you refer anybody and everybody of a certain aptitude to a person you come into contact with who can move an idea, product or start-up to the next level. You gain because the ecosystem gains,”
Jason made mention of how Chika of Cheki helped him walk the rope, early days of Iroko.
This part for our infant ecosystem is crucial, but sadly it is at odds with something that is culturally innate in 'us'. An easy shrug-off is that i am too busy trying to make it myself, how can i possibly help another person. I've had a couple of folks hold off an introduction to a key contact for so long, i preempted them one day with "how much do you want?"
I believe this is a primary differentiator between Silicon Valley and 'Sileko' Marina.
